The Egyptian Federation of Chambers of Tourism continues its great interest in training in all tourism activities, out of its belief in the importance of training in improving the quality of tourism services and raising the level of the Egyptian tourism product, and within the framework of this interest in training, The Egyptian Center for Safe Driving witnessed several important events in the presence of a number of officials from the Federation and the Center and companies sponsoring some of the Center's activities, as well as a number of tourism editors in Egyptian newspapers and websites. The 70,000th trainee who completed his training with the Center's advanced programs was honored, as well as the launch of the Egyptian Center's new website. During her review of the position of the training activities carried out by the Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers, Hala Al-Khatib, Executive Director of the Federation, confirmed that the various training activities carried out by the Federation and its chambers have not stopped for more than 20 years. In general, she added that despite some recent difficult circumstances facing the implementation of these training programs, whether in terms of funding or the exceptional circumstances facing the tourism sector and many economic activities, the current Board of Directors of the Federation, headed by Ahmed Al-Wasif, has increased the pace of training and maintained its effectiveness, and this is confirmed by her. The official figures for the number of trainees indicated that from 2002 until the end of 2018, the number of trainees in the various training programs carried out by the Union and its chambers reached about 274 thousand trainees in various tourism activities, and from 2019 until the end of last August the Union succeeded in training about 110 thousand trainees
The Executive Director of the Federation of Tourism Chambers explained that the training programs that were implemented included all tourism activities, including catering, reception services, and training employees of tourism companies, restaurants, bazaars, and diving centers on all the services provided. Providing them to tourists, she explained that the matter did not stop only at those services, but also extended to how to preserve the environment and treat tourists well, as well as training workers in various tourism activities to respect the differences between cultures and peoples. Considering that each people has its own culture and customs that differ from other peoples and we must take them into account
Driver training
Hala Al-Khatib pointed out during her speech that reducing road accidents, especially for tourist vehicles, is an important factor for international competition for the Egyptian tourism product, and she added that the Ministry and the Federation have been aware of this important point since Years ago, the Egyptian Center for Safe Driving was established in May 15th City in cooperation with one of the most important international centers specialized in this matter, which is the Austrian TTI Center. The Egyptian Center is the newest and first of its kind, not only in Egypt but also in Africa and the Middle East. She explained that the Federation pays great attention to developing This center and the modernization of its services, and she pointed out that all drivers for tourist transportation are trained according to international programs to avoid any dangers on the way for tourist transportation. More than 70,000 trainee drivers have been trained on safe driving, and all drivers of tourist vehicles are obligated to take training courses in this matter. The center is a condition for practicing work, and she confirmed that those who monitor tourist road accidents ensure that the activity of the Egyptian Center for Safe Driving has played a major role in reducing these accidents significantly, and road accidents are no longer among the challenges facing travel to Egypt, as was the case in the past.
International programs and development plans
For his part, Major General Walid Fouda, Executive Director of the Egyptian Center for Safe Driving, confirmed that the center's development and modernization operations do not stop in order to keep pace with the latest international systems and programs for training drivers, indicating that the center aims Expanding its activity to include training all drivers, not just drivers of tourist vehicles, indicating that there is a great demand from several companies and bodies to train their drivers at the center. He explained that several embassies of major countries are keen to train drivers at the center, and those embassies praised the distinguished level of the center and its trainers. He explained that Drivers are trained at the Egyptian Center for Safe Driving in 3 stages: safe driving, defensive driving, and economic driving.
Walid Fouda pointed out that the defensive driving stage trains the driver psychologically so that he can confront any dangers on the road that cause stress. As for the economical driving stage, it is how to save fuel and the most important thing. The stage is safe driving, which includes comprehensive training for sound and safe driving.
